Merry Christmas from the Gremingers 2007
(* indicates a corresponding picture in the slideshow)

Its time to fill you in on all that has transpired in the past year. Actually I have to go back further because at this time last year my computer died and it was February before the new one was up and running right.

To recap, we moved from South Florida in June of 2005 and camped in a rental while our home went from Lot 381 * to 5548 Aurora Dr, Leesburg , Fl, 34748 (352-728-3121).*

We spent the summer and fall of 2006 moving in. Actually we still have two store rooms and a full garage.

In October 2006 I fulfilled a twenty year promise, to my wife, and took Sharon to Yosemite Park in Ca. Our two-some grew to include Sharon's brother Butch, Kelly and her husband Andy, and Jennifer and her S/O Gunnar*. We had Sunday Brunch at the Ahwahnaee Hotel. The views from the floor to ceiling windows were breathtaking. We saw awesome vistas everywhere . The best was Half Dome*.

Back in Florida we hosted Jenn and Kelly for Christmas*. Kelly graduated from Nova this year with a bachelors in Psychology. She is already in her Masters program. Jen graduates from Oriental med school in September of 08.

Spring starts in January in Florida but we did have 3 frosts. It was neat to have frost on the windshields( All gone by 9 AM).  My next door neighbor is Ivan*. He is a retired lawyer from Puerto Rico. He has become a great friend. A true amigo.

I travel to New York City frequently to visit my doctor. It gives me a great opportunity to visit the Albany Gremingers. Rick changed businesses this year. The eldest grand son Josh was beginning the college application process. He will graduate from LaSalle Institute * in June of 2008. He is near the top of his class and is a student officer. He played Lacrosse and runs winter track. Rick and I took him to visit West Point * and my Alma Mater Princeton*. The biggest change on the campus is the presence of women. If they had been there in '61 I would never have graduated. Rachel is a young lady with a talent for the French Horn*. Tyler has a passion for baseball*.

My daughter Penny Richter came to visit with her clan on a Disney tour*. Penny is now the treasurer of a middle school. Corey is the eldest. He is a serious student with a bent for football*. He already is looking towards engineering. Dustin is a born Fisherman* and Aubrey is a lady living in a boys world*.

Summer in Central Florida is like living in a sunny sauna. We had a great driving vacation planned. Stopping in Beaufort, SC, the outer banks, Baltimore and a week camping on our mountain top property in Cambridge , NY with the grandkids. The return trip was to go through Gettysburg and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Then in June, shortly after buying a canoe, Sharon tore her medial meniscus (lt knee). While Sharon was off getting an MRI, I had a ladder collapse on me fracturing my foot. Sharon needed surgery and I was in an orange and black cast. So much for the big trip. We did fly and spent a week at my son's cottage on Sacandaga lake. Its not far from Saratoga*. We went to my 50th high school reunion, (Cambridge Central )*. It was great to spend time with the geezers.

Back in Florida Sharon had her surgery and I rode my bike and swam in a cast. This one was camo.

At the end of September I went to the 50th reunion of the class I went to school with from a one room Kindergarten to the 8th grade. It was a great trip. My classmates welcomed me. My memory of that time was that I was a troubled pre-teen who was not dealing well with my mother's death. My classmates * said such nice things about my mother it filled a hole in my life that had festered for 50 years. On the school tour the gym was the same. I remembered watching the Christmas pageant from the balcony. Baby Jesus, the wise men and no ACLU.

Brian and Tom were there*. We were the Grey Rock Lane Gorillas. Nancy came up and said "You were my first date in the 4th grade". I remembered it well and was blown away that she remembered.

In October we, now healed, made up our missed summer trip. We spent Sharon's birthday in Beaufort, SC a beautiful Ante-bellum costal town. Then we were off to Gatlinburg, TN for the height of the color. Even a color blind and nearly blind guy like me could appreciate the brilliant leaves. The slide show below will speak words I can't ever put in print.

The canoe finally made it into the water. Sharon and I paddled with our club on the Crystal river to see the Manatees.

That brings us to December and Christmas 2007. God has blessed us with another year of health and fun. When we were young we wanted to change the world. In time we pass the torch and we realize God has us change the world by changing ourselves and blessing our families and friends. Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year to you all. Happy Chanukah to our Jewish friends although by the time this gets out it will be passed.

Dick and Sharon
