Dayton Robinson

2006 update. Dayton retired from Boeing in 2003 and has continued to work part-time as a technical consultant, primarily with a small company located in Georgetown, DE, that makes auxiliary fuel tanks for airplanes and installs specially-designed interiors in B-737 aircraft used for VIP and business applications. Dayton is active as a docent at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA. Dayton and his wife Pam now have twin grand-children to dote on. Dayton & Pam enjoy their '97 Porsche 911, along with activities with the local chapter of the Porsche Club of America. Dayton stopped in to see Dick and Sharon Preiss while he was in Portland last summer for the '06 Porsche Parade. Both Dayton and Pam continue to enjoy traveling to faraway places, occasionally. Last May, they spent some time driving around Greece and visiting several Greek islands, following a business conference that Dayton attended in Cyprus. Dayton still enjoys hiking and cycling, and last year successfully completed the Seattle-to-Portland ride, which was something that he had looked forward to doing for some time.

Regarding my "non-energy machine", I think that I finally found it – in "your's truly". I seem to have slowed down considerably as I have aged, unfortunately, – which no doubt may surprise some classmates since I suspect that they thought that I was pretty slow in the first place.


1997 recap. Dayton received his MBA from the U of Washington ('88). He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honorary, and an Associate Fellow, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He has FAA Commercial Pilot License, is a FAA Flight Instructor and a Sea Kayaking Instructor & Trip Leader. He has 2 children from his wife Pamela’s previous marriage. He has traveled extensively for his company and for pleasure in North America, Europe, Asia, Oceania, and Africa.


1982 recap. Dayton received his BS in Science Engineering from Northwestern U ('61), served in the US Marine Corps as an Artillery Officer ('61-'65), and has worked for the Boeing Company since '65. He is currently Manager, Configuration Design, 747 Product Development. His wife Ruth is a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for King County. He received his MS in Mechanical Engineering from Seattle U in '71. He has traveled the Far East, Europe, Mexico, and Tahiti. He has lived in Fredericksburg & Triangle, VA, Camp Zukeran, Okinawa, Oceanside, CA, and Seattle, WA. Dayton special experiences include watching Northwestern beat Michigan (55-21), flying across the US in a Cessna, Seeing Mt St Helens spewing and the resulting devastation, picking up a new VW at Wolfsburg, and riding out a typhoon in the South China Sea. Dayton enjoys light plane flying, tennis, bicycling, hiking, swimming, woodworking, travel.
