David Bowen

David and his wife, Joyce, have 2 children (Peter and Amy) and 3.5 grandchildren. After obtaining his PhD, David worked at the Brookhaven National Laboratory and the Fermi Laboratory before Wayne State University.  The Bowens live in Royal Oak, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, located close to Lakes Huron and Erie. He enjoys wind surfing and sailing.

Following an earlier research career in elementary particle physics, Professor Bowen has been active in the areas of in-service teacher education, adult general education, and continuing engineering education. He has obtained grants and contracts and published in these areas and has presented his research at national and international conferences as well as in the area of future studies. Recently, he has been teaching courses in Computers and Society, and Computers and the Internet. A course on setting up an e-Commerce web site (e-Commerce: Using the Web to Find and Service Customers") and has taught online courses including "Creativity: Building the New" and "Times' Harvest" ( a course on future studies). Professor Bowen is also working on online tutors for math, basic literacy, and grammar and writing.
